Automated Vibratory Carbide Feeder

The Dynalloy Automated Carbide Feeder is a vibratory system designed to deliver a precise, consistent flow of tungsten carbide into your weld puddle. Ideal for hardfacing applications requiring uniform carbide distribution and minimal operator intervention.

Vibratory Feeder

The core of the system, this unit provides a consistent, adjustable flow of carbide to the weld puddle.

Digital Rheostat

The digital rheostat allows precise control of vibration and, therefore, the carbide feed rate. This enables you to fine-tune the application for different carbide sizes and job requirements.

Welding Torch Sensor

This sensor clamps onto your existing MIG welding torch. It detects the welding current and automatically activates the feeder, ensuring carbide is delivered only when you are welding. This makes the process seamless and efficient.

Flat-Position Hardfacing

The system is gravity-fed, meaning it can only be used when the work surface is flat, and the welding torch is in the “zero position” (12 o’clock), pointing straight down. This is critical for ensuring a consistent flow of carbide into the weld puddle.

MIG (GMAW) Welding

The feeder is designed to integrate seamlessly with a standard MIG welding setup. The sensor attaches to the MIG torch and automatically starts the carbide feed when the welding arc is initiated.

Repeatable, High-Volume Work

If you are performing the same hardfacing application repeatedly, the automated feeder will provide a level of consistency that is difficult to achieve with manual application. This is especially beneficial for manufacturing and production environments.

FAQs

How does the automated feeder work?

The feeder uses a vibratory mechanism to move carbide from a hopper, down a tube, and into the weld puddle. The system is activated by a sensor that clamps onto your MIG welding torch. When the sensor detects the welding current, it automatically starts the vibratory feeder, ensuring a consistent and controlled flow of carbide.

Can I use this feeder with any welding process?

No, the Dynalloy Automated Carbide Feeder is specifically designed for use with the MIG (GMAW) welding process. The automated start/stop functionality is tied to the electrical current of the MIG welder.

What kind of maintenance is required?

The feeder is designed to be low-maintenance. Occasionally, the control board may need to be replaced, but the overall system is very robust. We have customers who have been using the same feeder for many years with minimal issues.

Do you sell the carbide as well?

Yes, we offer a wide range of crushed tungsten carbide products in various sizes and shapes. We can help you select the right carbide for your specific application and the automated feeder.

What kind of training is included?

We provide free, onsite training with every automated feeder purchase. One of our experts will come to your facility for a half-day session to cover setup, operation, and the specific techniques for achieving a consistent, high-quality hardface deposit. This service is available nationwide to ensure your team is confident and capable from day one.
